Country’s tourism should be promoted through yoga

KATHMANDU:Yoga is a culture, identity and philosophy. Although yoga, which is challenging the modern allopathic system, has already been globalized, Nepal is yet to fully adhere to its importance.

Yoga, which originated from Nepal, could not be developed due to the failure of making people aware about its significance. Experts related to this sector said that it was necessary to save its original form with the globalization of yoga.

Coordinator of Nepal Yoga Retreat Centre, Dr Chintamani Gautam, pointed out the need that the country should adopt usefulness of the modern yoga at a time when the importance of yoga medicine is increasing globally.

Gautam further said that it would help promote country’s economy along with physical and mental fitness if yoga is promoted linking with spiritual tourism.

Similarly, yoga expert Dr Taraman Amatya said that yoga would make people mature physically and mentally.

He added that a curriculum of yoga has been included in MBBS course at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj, as it helps human body to achieve healthy and positive path. Modern yoga guru Maharshi Patanjali has been recognized as giving yoga a scientific shape.

The importance of Yoga has now increased with the recent announcement of United Nations for observing June 21 as Yoga Day across the world.
Dr Amatya said the Hot Yoga, Rajyoga, Tantara Yoga, and The Tripple Pat are the major four systems of Yoga and they have their own features.

Yoga increases the efficiency of the blood circulation system and it is useful to the patients of diabetes, high blood pressure, mental problems.

The Yoga Retreat Centre and Tourism Journalists’ Association organized a joint programme of yoga training on the occasion of the First International Yoga Day, today.

Yoga Guru Dr Chintamani Gautam trained the participant with various yoga lessons and entertained them at the programme.

During the programme CPN (UML) leader Madhav Kumar Nepal mentioned his experience of yoga during his underground political life and said any human being would have peace and happiness when he makes the yoga as a part of their life.

He said, “Psychological treatment is an important one. The Yoga can play vital role to empower human willpower and it should be linked with the tourism.”
The state should make necessary policy to promote tourism through natural medical treatment system using the natural resources, former Prime Minister Nepal added.
